LPPF® and Lumax ceramic are both low-maintenance by design. What keeps them looking their best is a gentle hand wash, and the same routine works for both finishes.
When to wash
- First wash: wait 2 weeks after your install, for both LPPF® and ceramic.
- After that: wash about once a month so contaminants don’t sit on the surface.
- Right away: rinse off bird droppings, bugs and tree sap promptly.
What you need
- A pH-neutral car soap
- Two buckets
- A clean microfiber wash mitt
- Soft microfiber drying towels or an air blower
The 5-step hand wash
- Rinse. Pre-rinse the whole vehicle to knock off loose dirt and grit.
- Two buckets. Fill one bucket with pH-neutral soapy water and one with clean rinse water for your mitt.
- Top down. Wash with a microfiber mitt from the roof down, rinsing the mitt often.
- Rinse again. Rinse thoroughly so no soap dries on the surface.
- Dry gently. Pat or blot dry with a clean microfiber towel, or use an air blower.
Wash out of direct sun when you can, and don’t let hard-water spots dry on the surface.
Gentle and regular beats harsh and occasional.
What to avoid
- Wax: it dulls gloss and water beading on both finishes.
- Abrasive compounds or polishes: don’t use them on either product.
- Automatic washes with brushes.
- Dish soap or harsh degreasers on ceramic.
If something looks off
- Beading slowing down? Road film can build up and mask a ceramic coating. A careful hand wash usually brings the beading back.
- Light scratch in LPPF®? Leave it. Light swirls and scratches heal with heat.
- Deeper damage? Don’t try to fix it yourself. It isn’t covered by the warranty, but LPPF® is 100% repairable.
